The more Grand Canyon wins to puts its mark on the college basketball landscape, the more interest builds to show the Lopes to a national audience.
ESPN networks added three GCU games to its national broadcast schedule for the upcoming season, giving the Lopes five nationally televised regular-season games with more possible in the postseason. Two will capture the signature home game atmosphere of GCU Arena.
ESPNU will air the Dec. 5 home game against last season's national runner-up, preseason No. 17 San Diego State, as well as GCU's Dec. 9 visit to Liberty, the defending co-Atlantic Sun champion, and the Lopes' March 2 home game against Stephen F. Austin in a showdown of the WAC's projected top two teams.
GCU's games in the Arizona Tip-Off already were announced as CBS Sports Network broadcasts. The Lopes open the Glendale event at Desert Diamond Arena with a Nov. 17 game against San Francisco before playing either DePaul or South Carolina on Nov. 19.
The Lopes could wind up with more than five nationally broadcast games, but the current total already matches last season's program high of five, which included the WAC Tournament championship, and the NCAA tournament games.
Prior to last season, GCU had never been broadcast more than twice nationally in a season for a total of 10 national television games over those first nine seasons as a Division I program.
Other than the nationally televised games, all GCU home games will be shown locally on FOX 10 Xtra (Cable 9, Ch. 45) in addition to ESPN+. All road games also will be streamed on ESPN+.
