Grand Canyon University extended its partnership with KUTP FOX 10 Xtra for a fourth season to broadcast and produce men's basketball home games and select other events for the 2022-23 season.
The agreement means GCU men's basketball will continue to be seen on Ch. 45 over the air and Ch. 9 on cable with a reach of nearly 2 million households in the Phoenix market.
In Year 2 of the WAC's agreement with ESPN, home and away games also will be streamed online exclusively on ESPN+.
"We are pleased to continue our partnership with Grand Canyon University as FOX 10 Xtra remains the broadcast home of men's basketball telecasts," said Mark Rodman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of KSAZ FOX 10 and KUTP FOX 10 Xtra.
In addition to GCU's home men's basketball slate, a handful of other GCU matchups also will be televised: women's basketball vs. Arizona State on Nov. 30 and Stephen F. Austin on Jan. 7 in addition to two baseball games and one softball game to be announced.
GCU men's basketball is coming off a 23-8 season in which the Lopes finished with their highest end-of-year standing in the NCAA Evaluation Tool rankings. The Lopes are back under third-year head coach
Bryce Drew, who led the program to its first appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament in 2021.
The Lopes host 18 home matchups at GCU Arena. After the exhibition opener on Oct. 28, GCU will host one of opening night's biggest matchups with the reigning Big Sky Conference champion Montana State Bobcats visiting on Nov. 7. The Lopes also host a pair of West Coast Conference foes in Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount. The remaining home slate includes visits from traditional WAC foes New Mexico State, California Baptist and Utah Valley, among others. GCU will host UT Arlington and Stephen F. Austin for the first time as conference competitors.
"GCU has a phenomenal broadcast team with great broadcast partners that combine to create the best viewing experience possible for Lopes Nation across the globe," GCU Vice President of Athletics
Jamie Boggs said. "We're thankful for the opportunity to deliver a piece of the GCU Arena game experience into the living rooms of our Lopes family."
The entire broadcast team returns intact for 2022-23.
Barry Buetel will again provide the telecasts' play-by-play with three-time NBA champion Scott Williams offering analysis. Kate Longworth returns as a pregame/sideline reporter. All telecasts include a half-hour pregame show.
