Grand Canyon beach volleyball head coach
Kristen Rohr was picked by the Amercian Volleyball Coaches Association as the Collegiate Beach Coach of the Year.

"I'm so honored to be chosen for Coach of the Year,"Â Rohr said. "There's so many deserving coaches."
Rohr, who just completed her seventh season as Lopes head coach, led GCUÂ to its first-ever NCAA Championship appearance after receiving an at-large bid as the No. 7 seed in the 16-team field. The Lopes finished the season with a program-best 26 wins.
"I am really proud of how hard my team worked this year and came together to make history for our program," Rohr said.
The beach volleyball program went from being unranked in 2015 to a top-15 team in Rohr's second season as head coach in 2017.Â
Consistently in the top 20 throughout the last six years, Rohr took GCU to a whole new level this year with a program-best No. 7 ranking for 10 straight weeks.
The Lopes picked up multiple impressive wins this season over top-20 teams, including No. 12/17 Arizona (twice), No. 8 Stanford (twice), No. 11 Cal Poly, No. 13 Georgia State, No. 11 Florida Atlantic, No. 20 Tulane, No. 9 Hawaii (twice), No. 11 Long Beach State and No. 11 California.
Rohr picked up her 100th career win earlier this season against No. 8 Stanford at the Battle for LA Invitational on March 5. After the NCAA tournament, she moved to a 122-63 career record at GCU.
