Dunckel records sole RBI for Lopes
The Grand Canyon softball team's eight-game long winning streak ended with a 2-1 loss to Binghamton on Saturday night at GCU Softball Stadium. Â

The Lopes and Bearcats were scoreless until Binghamton struck first with a solo home run in the top of the second inning.Â
Â
GCU was kept off the board until the bottom of the sixth inning. Senior eft fielder Gianna Nicoletti hit a leadoff single up the middle and stole second. A sacrifice bunt by graduate center fielder Stephanie Reed moved Nicoletti to third. Spphomore shortstop Katelyn Dunckel recorded the only RBI for the Lopes with a single through the right-side, scoring Nicoletti.

Binghamton responded in the top of the seventh, rallying for a run to take the lead back from the Lopes. GCU was unable to get anything going in the bottom of the seventh, falling 2-1.

GCU will be back in action for the final game of the GCU Invitational when they take on San Jose State at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at GCU Softball Stadium.Â
