Sean Miller-Moore and
Holland Woods II found a way to take Grand Canyon to the Final Four scene this week.
Miller-Moore was one of eight college players selected to participate in the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship on Thursday night in New Orleans, where Woods will be part of a WAC/Mountain West team and one of 64 seniors in the 3X3U National Championship on Friday and Saturday.

Miller-Moore, a SportsCenter Top 10 repeat slam artist, will be GCU's first dunk competitor in the College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Challenge but not the first to participate. DeWayne Russell represented the Lopes in the event's 3-point competition and finished as runner-up when it was held at GCU Arena in 2017.
Thursday's contest will be broadcast live on ESPN at 6 p.m. (Phoenix time) from Xavier's Convocation Center in New Orleans. Other participants include Houston's Taze Moore, Creighton's Alex O'Connell, Colorado State's Chandler Jacobs, Wake Forest's Alondes Williams, St. Bonaventure's Jalen Adaway and New Orleans' Derek St. Hilaire, along with "Dark Horse" fan-vote winner Branden Ellis of Lynn.
"I didn't know the world knew I could jump, but I'm grateful nonetheless," Miller-Moore said. "I think I'm a good fit for it. I think what is going to carry me a long way is I'm coordinated. I'm able to throw myself lobs. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself, but I don't miss too many dunks. Hopefully, I can put GCU on the map. I'm excited for sure to be in that environment of the Final Four. To be a part of it is humbling."
Miller-Moore said he has two "go-to" dunks in his repertoire that he will use, but he also may benefit from Woods' selection to the 3X3U National Championship. The pair hooked up for a bevy alleyoop dunks this season with Woods being a pinpoint alleyoop passer.
"I think I've got the first couple dunks, but if I need him and somebody is giving me a run for my money, I'm definitely going to grab Holland out there and make him throw me some crazy lobs," said Miller-Moore, the 6-foot-4 swingman who was in GCU's top four for points, rebounds and assists with 30 starts this season.

Woods will team up with Savion Flagg of Sam Houston on Rocky Mountain Range, which includes the Mountain West duo of Wyoming's Drake Jeffries and Utah State's Brandon Horvath.
Woods' Friday pool games against Big Sky/Big West, Ivy/Patriot and Colonial Athletic/Northeast teams will be shown live on ESPNU and Twitter. They are scheduled for 11:50 a.m. (Phoenix time) on ESPNU and 1:25 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. (Phoenix times) on the 3x3U Twitter account. All games are played at The Sugar Mill in downtown New Orleans.
Those matchups will be repeated in the same order Saturday with scheduled start times of 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. (Phoenix times) on Twitter.
The pool's top two finishers will receive byes to the quarterfinals of Sunday's knockout rounds. The winning team in each pool game receives $1,000 with the stakes rising for a quarterfinal win ($5,000), semifinal win ($10,000) and championship win ($50,000).
After averaging 14.8 points and 3.0 assists this season for GCU, Woods finished his career as one of five active players to record at least 1,900 points and 600 assists. He nearly reached the 2,000-point plateau, finishing with 1,984 points and 656 assists. With career-high 38.4% 3-point shooting for the 23-8 Lopes, Woods recorded 10 games of 20 or more points this season after not having a 20-point game last season at Arizona State.
