Opening NET rankings revealed

Lopes rank top 30% nationally, 3rd among conference teams
Grand Canyon landed at No. 108 in the season debut of the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings.
GCU ranks among the nation's top 30% and third among WAC programs in the opening NET, a ranking system that replaced the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) in 2018. The NET's calculations are based on results with considerations to quality of opponents, location of games, scoring margin and efficiency.
This is the first season that the WAC also will be using a similar tool to decide WAC Tournament seeding with an algorithm that considers nonconference and conference play.
The Lopes are off to a 6-1 start for the third consecutive season under head coach Molly Miller after defeating Kansas City 61-50 on Saturday. GCU's lone loss of the season came to Arizona State, which is No. 124, and the Lopes end nonconference play with a Dec. 21 game at UC Irvine, which is No. 115.
