GCU Assistant AD of Communications recognized for impact at alma mater
Grand Canyon Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Josh Hauser was honored as part of the College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 inaugural class in recognition of his professional success and impact on GCU Athletics.
Hauser, 27, is a GCU alumnus who began working for GCU Athletics as Assistant Director of Communications in 2016, elevated to Director of Creative Media in 2018 and assumed his current administrative role in 2019. Hauser oversees the Athletics Communications department that provides media relations, multimedia content and digital media support for 21 Lopes sports.
In addition to being part of the GCU Athletics leadership team, Hauser is the primary sports information contact for men's basketball and baseball.
"It's an honor to be recognized along with this talented group of young professionals," Hauser said. "I'd like to thank GCU for giving an opportunity to a kid a handful of years ago, and it's a pleasure to be able to work at my alma mater with an amazing surrounding cast of hard-working individuals trying to make GCU the best it can possibly be."
Hauser, who is from Aurora, Oregon, revitalized GCU Athletics' social media strategy to put accounts in the national top 20 for impressions and raise the department's overall ranking to fourth nationally among non-football universities. He led an overhaul of the GCU Athletics website, GCULopes.com, and developed branding that is used in several public-facing multimedia formats.
"Josh stood out as a talent since he was a student here and rapidly showed the innovation, creativity and leadership to set the highest standard of excellence in our Athletics Communications area and in the industry," GCU Vice President of Athletics Jamie Boggs said. "We are so proud that he has received this well-deserved recognition."
Hauser graduated from GCU in 2016 as a double major with undergraduate degrees in Communication and Sports Management. In 2020, he completed a GCU master's degree in Business Administration.
He is one of 17 Division I strategic, creative and digital athletics communications professionals that were in the CSC 30 Under 30 class.
"This class represents 30 of the brightest young talents in College Sports Communicators at all levels," CSC President Jessica Poole said.
