Baseball, softball games to feature expanded capacity; physical distancing remains
Grand Canyon University is opening its remaining athletic events to the public beginning Friday, April 9. The decision was made based on recent guidance by state officials as well as the continued monitoring of campus health.
Â
As of March 28, there is not an active COVID-19 case connected to the GCU campus.
Â
"We could not be more excited to welcome back Lope Nation to our athletic events," GCU Interim Vice President of Athletics Jamie Boggs said. "We are looking forward to safely having our fans back on campus."
Â
Outdoor events will be increased to 45% of venue capacity. GCU will continue to practice physical distancing and mask-wearing measures and fans will remain a required distance from the playing field to protect the health of student-athletes, coaches and staff.
Â
The policy will be in effect for the 14 remaining baseball home games and six remaining softball home games.
Â
Tickets for upcoming games will go on sale at GCULopes.com/Tickets on Monday, April 5, at noon (Phoenix time). All tickets will be delivered to mobile devices only.

Â
***Due to commencement activities, the men's volleyball matches vs. Concordia-Irvine on April 16 and 17 will be hosted in Antelope Gymnasium and will not be open to the public. Additionally, the WAC Women's Soccer Tournament hosted at GCU Stadium from April 13-17 will be under a different set of guidance released in conjunction with the conference office at a later date.
