A full month has not passed this season without Grand Canyon senior center
Asbjørn Midtgaard claiming a WAC Player of the Week honor.
Midtgaard collected the latest WAC Player of the Week award for posting double-doubles against California Baptist on Friday and Saturday nights, making the Denmark native one of 29 players in the nation with at least eight double-doubles this season. Midtgaard has scored in double digits in 13 consecutive games, collecting nine or more rebounds in each of them.
Midtgaard helped GCU win its ninth consecutive game, which was tied for the sixth-longest winning streak in the nation, on Friday and then had the second-best rebounding game of his career (15) in Saturday's 65-62 loss. He also kept his national field goal percentage lead at 73.9% by making 9 of 13 shots in the two games combined. Midtgaard averaged 12.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks as the Lopes (13-4, 7-1 WAC) split the series.
For the season, Midtgaard has accumulated more points, rebounds, field goals made and free throws made than he did in his previous three seasons combined at Wichita State.
GCU travels to Seattle U (9-8, 2-3 WAC) for its final road games on Friday and Saturday nights.
