GCU Arena to return to capacity with games sold out for 2021-22
Grand Canyon men's basketball games are sold out for the upcoming 2021-22 season. GCU Arena will return to its full 7,000-seat capacity with a combination of student seat allotment and season-ticket sales.
"The game experience last season was phenomenal," said Lopes head coach Bryce Drew, who experienced a crowd no larger than 1,000 fans in his first season due to Covid-related attendance restrictions. "We can't wait to see the arena return to full capacity between the Havocs and our season-ticket holders."
An eager student body purchased 3,500 Havocs Pro Passes in minutes for priority access to men's basketball games. Season-ticket sales reached record numbers to fill out the remainder of the arena's capacity.
The Lopes are coming off their first conference championships and first trip to the NCAA tournament at the Division I level. When the Lopes were last in action at GCU Arena, they were cutting down the nets after clinching a share of the WAC regular-season title in the home finale. GCU played a dominant two-game stretch of basketball to win the WAC tournament and advance to March Madness.
GCU Arena is expected to return to its 2018-19 attendance levels when it was the fullest venue in college basketball. An average crowd of 7,170 filed into the arena to put the venue at 102.4% capacity.
Limited opportunities to attend a men's basketball game still remain. A select number of single-game tickets will be sold for standing room only, and single-game tickets may also be available for games where GCU students are on break.
Fans not in the venue can follow all the action on FOX 10 Xtra (Ch. 45 / Cable 9), ESPN+ and 1580 The Fanatic (99.3 FM & 95.9 FM).
A waitlist is already beginning to form for the 2022-23 season. Should season tickets become available next spring, names on the waitlist will be contacted in order of sign-up for any ticket sale opportunities. To join the waitlist now, click here.
Tickets for GCU students will be claimed on a game-by-game basis. Havocs Pro Pass holders will have 24-hour priority access to tickets for all games. Any unclaimed tickets will then be released to the remainder of the student body.
Season-ticket holders can add women's basketball season tickets to their entire account for a flat rate of $20. Women's basketball season tickets are just $50 per seat for the general public.
The men's season tips off on Oct. 30 as the Lopes host Western New Mexico at 6 p.m.
