Grand Canyon University has extended its partnership with KUTP FOX 10 Xtra and SNEAKY BIG for a third season to broadcast and produce men's basketball home games and select other events for the 2021-22 season.
The agreement means GCU basketball will continue to be seen on Ch. 45 (Ch. 9 on cable) and has a reach of nearly 1.9 million households in the Phoenix market.
Due to
a new WAC agreement with ESPN, games will be streamed online exclusively on ESPN+.
"We are pleased to continue our partnership with Grand Canyon University as FOX 10 Xtra remains the broadcast home of men's basketball telecasts," said Mark Rodman, SVP and General Manager of KSAZ FOX 10 and KUTP FOX 10 Xtra.
SNEAKY BIG, founded in 2016 by well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons, is the largest and most technologically advanced production facility in the Southwest.
"Our world-class staff and state-of-the-art capabilities make SNEAKY BIG uniquely suited to produce and broadcast for the GCU men's basketball team," Parsons said. "We are proud to partner with GCU to help bring great sports programming to fans across the Valley."
GCU men's basketball is coming off of its first trip to the NCAA tournament at the Division I level. The Lopes — under second-year head coach
Bryce Drew — host 18 home games beginning on Oct. 30. In a reshaped Western Athletic Conference, the Lopes will host WAC newcomers Abilene Christian and Sam Houston State as well as conference rival New Mexico State.
"GCU has a phenomenal broadcast team with great broadcast partners that combine to create the best viewing experience possible for Lopes Nation across the globe," GCU Vice President of Athletics
Jamie Boggs said. "We're thankful for the opportunity to deliver a piece of the GCU Arena game experience into the living rooms of our Lopes family."
The entire broadcast team returns intact for 2021-22.
Barry Buetel will again provide play-by-play during telecasts with Scott Williams offering analysis. Kate Longworth returns as a pregame/sideline reporter. All telecasts include a half-hour pregame show.
