Lopes earn AVCA Academic Award

GCU women's volleyball, beach volleyball programs receive recognition
The Grand Canyon women's volleyball and beach volleyball programs received the 2019-20 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, the AVCA announced on Monday. The Lopes were two of 1,313 high school and college teams to earn the award last season, setting an all-time high for the honor after the previous year's record of 1,125.
GCU is one of 227 Division I programs to be recognized, marking its fourth consecutive season on the list of teams that achieved a 3.3 team GPA or better. The women's volleyball team earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.64 in the 2019-20 academic year.
Beach volleyball also earned its fourth consecutive recognition for the AVCA Team Academic Award. GCU earned a combined 3.67 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year, making the Lopes one of the 41 collegiate beach programs to receive the honor.
