Grand Canyon turned up its roster's defense and athleticism with the signing of Oregon State transfer
Sean Miller-Moore.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Canadian operates at the wing with high energy for attacking drives and defending while using high-flying abilities for plays at the rim and rebounding. Miller-Moore played 29 games last season for Oregon State, starting one game against UCLA and shooting a team-best 67.9% from the field for the season. Had his number of attempts qualified, Miller-Moore would have tied for second in the nation for field goal percentage.
"Sean is a very electrifying player who plays well above the rim," GCU head coach
Bryce Drew said. "He will bring much-needed experience to our team and be able to help us from Day 1. Possessing great length, he should help our rebounding and defense immediately."
Miller-Moore averaged 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game. He posted a 10-point game at Washington State without missing a shot in 19 minutes and tallied 10 points and six rebounds against Texas-San Antonio in 18 minutes.
His addition gives GCU seven new players for Drew's first roster this year.
Miller-Moore, originally from Toronto, played two seasons at junior college power Moberly Area Community College in Kirksville, Missouri. There, he teamed wtih Arizona State player Alonzo Verge Jr. to lead Moberly to a regional championship and the national touranment's round of 32 before Moberly was knocked out by eventual champion Vincennes.
As a sophomore for that 29-7 team, Miller-Moore averaged 18.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 59.1% from the field. In high school, he averaged 23.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists as a senior for Thornlea Secondary School in Markham, Ontario, near Toronto.
