With the WAC utilizing a back-to-back format this season to reduce travel exposure amid the coronavirus pandemic, Grand Canyon created its own nonconference back-to-back scenario by adding a home game against Bethesda (Calif.) on Dec. 30 at 6 p.m.
GCU has lost two games because of COVID-19 issues with opponents. Home games against Prairie View A&M (Dec. 5) and SAGU American Indian (Dec. 15) were canceled.
The Lopes will host Denver on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. prior to the newly added contest, giving GCU the experience of back-to-back games less than two weeks before starting conference play with Jan. 8-9 games at Tarleton.
GCU hosted Bethesda on Jan. 31, 2017, to fill a gap in its conference schedule.
The game will be broadcast via GCU's traditional mediums for home games: television on FOX 10 Xtra (Ch. 45 / Cable 9), streaming on ESPN3 and GCULopes.com, and radio on 1580 The Fanatic (99.3 FM and 95.9 FM).
