FOX 10 Xtra to broadcast games

Grand Canyon University has entered into a partnership with KUTP FOX 10 Xtra and SNEAKY BIG to broadcast and produce men's basketball home games for the 2019-20 season.

The agreement means GCU basketball will be available to more viewers than ever before. FOX 10 Xtra can be seen on Ch. 45 (Ch. 9 on cable) and has a reach of nearly 1.9 million households in the Phoenix market.

"GCU basketball games are known as some of the most exciting fan experiences anywhere," said Mark Rodman, VP and General Manager of FOX 10 and FOX 10 Xtra. "We look forward to bringing head coach Dan Majerle and the Lopes to FOX 10 Xtra and giving our audience a front-row seat as the team goes after its first NCAA tournament bid."

SNEAKY BIG, founded in 2016 by well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons, is the largest and most technologically advanced production facility in the Southwest.

"SNEAKY BIG's world-class staff and state-of-the-art capabilities make us uniquely suited to step in as the production partner for the GCU men's basketball team," Parsons said. "This partnership, along with games airing on FOX 10 Xtra, will benefit fans across the Phoenix area."

GCU men's basketball has enjoyed one of the most successful transitions to Division I in NCAA history with four straight 20-win seasons and will be shooting for an NCAA tournament appearance in only its third season of postseason eligibility. The home schedule includes games against Illinois and WAC rival New Mexico State.

"With the increasing popularity of our athletic teams and the incredible atmosphere that exists in GCU Arena, we wanted to make our basketball telecasts accessible to as many people as possible," GCU President Brian Mueller said. "FOX 10 Xtra has a long history of airing sporting events in the Phoenix area and SNEAKY BIG has quickly become one of the best at producing high-quality sporting events."

The entire broadcast reporting team returns intact in 2019. Barry Buetel will again provide play-by-play during telecasts, with Scott Williams offering analysis. Kate Longworth returns as a pregame/sideline reporter. All telecasts include a half-hour pregame show.
