The Grand Canyon softball team added outfield transfer Brooke Cantillo, a redshirt sophomore from Mississippi State, to the team for this fall, Lopes head coach
Ann Pierson announced Monday.
Â
"We're very excited to add Brooke Cantillo to the 2019-20 roster," Pierson said. "Brooke brings SEC experience and maturity along with a will to win. She is an outfielder and a true triple threat with speed and power. She is a strong student who is studying pre-medicine, as well as a high-character kid. Brooke will do great things for our program."
Â
Cantillo comes to the Lopes after two years with the Bulldogs. Following a medical redshirt in 2018, Cantillo made her collegiate debut during the 2019 season and competed in 13 contests as a pinch runner, pinch hitter and reserve outfielder.Â
Â
She tallied two runs and two RBI and went 1 for 2 at the plate while tacking on a pair of putouts. Cantillo was a 2017-18 First-Year SEC Honor Roll selection.
Â
A native of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Cantillo was a three-time all-league selection at Foothill High School who was ranked as high as 43rd nationally by Flo Softball in 2017.
