Sophomore named GEICO athlete of the month

Sophomore Ryan Denhart is the WAC Student-Athlete of the Month, sponsored by GEICO. The nod is the first for Denhart in her GCU career.

A native of Los Alamitos, Calif., Denhart (9-3, 4-0 WAC) leads the conference with four victories in league play including a one-hitter over CSU Bakersfield last weekend.

The right-hander has thrown two complete games among WAC competition for a total of 32.0 innings. She's allowed 16 hits, six total runs, three unearned, and three walks while striking out 17. She holds an ERA of 0.66 and has allowed no home runs in conference play.

Overall, Denhart ranks third in the WAC with a season ERA of 2.04. She's seen 82.1 innings of work and allowed 69 hits, 35 runs, 24 unearned, and dished 44 strikeouts.

Denhart and the Lopes take a break from WAC play this weekend to host in-state rival Arizona for a three-game series at GCU Softball Stadium. Admission is free of charge.
