Shea Smith was named WAC Hitter of the Week by the conference Monday after helping the Lopes to a 3-1 showing at home in the GCU Purple Classic.Â

Smith led the offense for the Lopes (7-7) for the second weekend in a row with a batting average of .583 (7 for 12) with an .833 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage. The shortstop had a hit in all four games as well as a double, triple and five RBIs.Â

Smith was quick on the base paths with a stolen base, while anchoring the GCU defense with no errors in the Lopes' three victories.

In the first game of the weekend against Michigan State, Smith went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI, a walk and two runs scored. She continued her hot streak in the 8-2 win over North Dakota with three RBIs and a stolen base.Â

Smith was perfect against Yale with a 3-for-3 outing and her first triple of the season.Â

Smith and the Lopes return to GCU Softball Stadium on Friday to host the three-day Lopes Up Classic with Utah, South Dakota, Iowa State and Northern Colorado.Â
