The Grand Canyon women's soccer team continues WAC play when it welcomes Chicago State to GCU Stadium on Thursday night before traveling to Utah Valley for a Saturday evening game.
This will be an important week for the Lopes, who sit in a tie for fifth place in the WAC. GCU has earned six points and is tied with CSU Bakersfield and New Mexico State. The Lopes already have the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Aggies and will face the Roadrunners in the regular-season finale next week.
Friday's match can be watched live on GCU TV and Sunday's match can be watched on the WAC Digital Network.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- FLIPPING THE SCRIPT: The Lopes have flipped the script offensively since the start of WAC play with almost as many goals (four) in five conference games as they scored in 10 nonconference games (five).Â
- RECORD BREAKER: Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Garthwaite set a new GCU Division I single-game saves record with 16 against California Baptist in her hometown of Riverside, California. Garthwaite passed former GCU goalies Abby Burton's and Blakely Fraasch's previous mark of 15 saves.
- REGULAR-SEASON FINALE LOOMING: Sitting in a three-way tie for fifth place with three matches remaining, a lot remains to be determined before the WAC Tournament. GCU holds a head-to-head win over New Mexico State and will face CSU Bakersfield in the regular season finale next week. The defending regular season champs Kansas City is just behind the Lopes with five points.
SCOUTING
Chicago State is still looking for its first win of the 2019 season. The last Division I win for Chicago State came on Aug. 23, 2014, at Arkansas Pine Bluff.
Chicago State ranks at the bottom of all offensive categories in the WAC. The 60 goals allowed are the most in the conference and the second-highest total in the NCAA behind Alcorn State, which has allowed 77.
Freshman Barbara Castellanos leads the Cougars with three goals and one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Judith Sorribes has started 11 of the 16 games. She has allowed 54 goals with 125 saves.
Utah Valley sits fourth in the WAC with nine points. The Wolverines have shut out New Mexico State, California Baptist and Chicago State in consecutive matches before losing to Kansas City.
The 10 goals scored against the Cougars were the second most goals scored in a single game in program history. UVU also scored 11 goals against Delaware State in 2005.Â
The Wolverines are led by Amber Tripp's five goals and five assists. Tripp's 15 points are the fourth most in the WAC. Goalkeeper Allie Jara has started 14 games with 62 saves and a 1.29 goals against average.
