Sophomores step up on Fall Academic All-WAC list

The Western Athletic Conference announced its Fall Academic All-WAC honorees this week, and 33 Grand Canyon athletes made the cut. Student-athletes from men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball are honored on the list.
Student-athletes must have completed one academics year, have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and participate in 50 percent of their contests in order to be eligible.
A grand total of 274 student-athletes were named to the list for the Fall of 2018. The top three schools with the most honorees were Utah Valley, who totaled the most honorees (40), followed by Kansas City (37) and GCU (33).
The women's soccer team led GCU with 10 honorees. Right behind them was men's soccer and women's volleyball who each contributed nine. The sophomore class made up of almost half of GCU's honorees, totaling 15 across all five sports.
