LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Three Lopes players tallied double-digit numbers in tonight's contest at the Pan American Center, including a game-high 22 points from senior
Brie Mobley, but the Grand Canyon women's basketball team dropped its first conference road test to New Mexico State (8-8, 2-0 WAC), 64-60.
The Lopes (7-9, 1-1 WAC) five-game win streak is snapped with the loss and GCU falls to an even 1-1 in Western Athletic Conference play.
Mobley finished the night with a near double-double – 22 points and nine rebounds. Fellow senior
Jessica Gajewski netted 17 points and added two boards, while a third senior in
August Touchard had 15 points, four rebounds and two assists on the night.
The pair of freshman
Camille Hailey and sophomore
Vanessa Murphy contributed four and two points, respectively.
Murphy and junior

Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second, the Lopes recollected and pushed back to fight the Aggies for the entire 40 minutes of play.
GCU earned an early lead in the first quarter, but then trailing NMSU for the remainder of the half before heading to the locker room down by one, 31-30.
New Mexico State pushed away early in the third, but a 6-0 Lopes run gave GCU its first lead since the first quarter. The Aggies regained the lead and closed out the third ahead by two, 48-46. The Lopes wouldn't regain the lead for the remainder of the game.
GCU came as close as one-point shy of a tie game, 59-58, but a quick jumper and a series of foul shots ended the game with the Aggies on top, 64-60.
