PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon University beach volleyball team faces off against Grossmont College at 9 a.m. MST and San Diego Mesa at 11 a.m. MST in their final home matches of the season on Saturday, April 16.
This is their first set of home matches after four straight weeks on the road. The Lopes are entering into these matches at 13-6 having learned a lot from the past tournament weekend. After encountering adverse elements and well-coached teams at Fiesta on Siesta Key and walking away 2-3, the team is even better prepared for the competition ahead.
This is the second time GCU will play Grossmont College after the Lopes claimed their 10th straight win and swept the Griffens 5-0 in Week 4. This was Grossmont's only loss of the season, coming in strong at 15-1 overall. GCU's scheduled matchup against San Diego Mesa in Week 4 was postponed, so the Lopes will be facing the Olympians for the first time at home on Saturday. The San Diego Mesa beach volleyball team is 5-6-1 on the season after their most recent pair of wins at last weekend's matches.
