PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon men's basketball team had two members recognized in the WAC men's basketball postseason honors, it was announed on Tuesday. Sophomore
Joshua Braun was named All-WAC First Team and graduate-senior
Grandy Glaze was named to the All-WAC Second Team and All-Newcomer Team.
Braun earned All-WAC First Team honors after leading GCU and finising second in the WAC in scoring, averaging 16.9 points per game. He led the conference in both 3-point field goal percentage (.417) and free throw percentage (.873). Braun finished the conference season tied with WAC Player of the Year Pascal Siakam with an 18.8 scoring average in 14 WAC games. He was named the WAC Player of the Week in early January after averaging 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in wins over UT Rio Grande Valley and the GCU's first-ever win over New Mexico State. Braun, who was named to the Preseason All-WAC Second Team, was named to the WAC All-Newcomer team last year in his first season with the Lopes.
Glaze was named to the All-WAC Second Team and All-Newcomer team after leading the WAC with a .594 field goal percentage and ranking second in the conference in rebounding (8.5 per game). Glaze average 14.1 points per contest and recorded a team-best 12 double-doubles on the season. He was named WAC Player of the Week a team-high three times, the second-most among WAC players.
The Grand Canyon men's basketball team finished the season with an overall record 25-6, their best regular season since transitioning to the Division I level. The Lopes will now move on to postseason play where they will participate in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament for the third consecutive season.
