?PHOENIX – New Grand Canyon women's soccer head coach
Derek Leader will get his first chance to see his new team in action as it is set to kick off its spring schedule this week. The Lopes will play in six spring matches beginning this week with MacEwan University and concluding with in-state opponent Arizona.
GCU will host four of its six spring matches at home as it takes on four in-state opponents. On Feb. 27 the Lopes will welcome Embry Riddle to town and continuing in March, GCU will host Paradise Valley Community College and Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
The Lopes will get tested at the end of their spring schedule in the month of April with a matchup against Northern Arizona and ending with UofA. GCU lost four seniors from last year's squad but the team is young with 19 underclassmen who have the opportunity to step on the pitch to prove themselves during the spring.
