PHOENIX --The Grand Canyon women's soccer team finished 2016 tied for third in the Western Athletic Conference and landed four on the All-WAC Second team the conference announced Wednesday. The Lopes completed the 2016 season with a 7-9-2 mark and a 3-2-2 WAC record.

Blakely Fraasch garnered second-team honors for their performances during WAC action this season.

Monterroso, the senior from Guatemala City netted a goal during all four weeks of WAC play and amassed four goals which landed her in the third spot in the conference. Monterroso led the squad with four goals and nine points during conference play. She also scored the equalizing goal against CSUB in a contest that ended in a 1-1 tie and secured the third place finish for the Lopes. led the squad with four goals and nine points during conference play.Â
Cook, earned her second consecutive conference honor after been named to the second-team on Wednesday. The sophomore had a conference leading 34 shots and 15 shots on goal. She also had two goals during WAC play and was a part of a GCU offense that produced 17 goals that tied for first in the WAC.Â

Junior defender Cox, played a critical role on both sides of the ball for the Lopes. She was a part of a backline that held conference opponents to a combined four goals which ranked first in the conference. They also allowed just 55 shots and 27 shots on goal. The defense also produced three shutouts. On offense, Cox netted the game-winning goal in double overtime to secure the Lopes victory over Utah Valley. She garnered WAC honors for the second straight season.

Goal Keeper Fraasch, had another stellar season in goal during WAC play for the Lopes. Fraasch garnered her second All-WAC honor after been named WAC Freshman of the Year in 2014. During conference play, she led the WAC with a .56 goal against average allowing just four goals and posted three consecutive shutouts. Fraasch also garnered a .852 save percentage. This season she earned WAC Defensive Player of the Week Accolades for her performance in Week 3 after sweeping Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado at home.She was also named to the Preseason All-WAC First team before the season.Â
