Grand Canyon University head men's basketball coach Dan Majerle today announced the addition of Grandy Glaze to the 2015-16 roster.
Glaze, a 6-6 forward who can play both the four and five positions, joins the squad as a transfer student-athlete from St. Louis University where he spent a season under the late Rick Majerus and three under Jim Crews, helping the Billikens to three NCAA Tournament appearances. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at GCU.
"Grandy will be a nice addition to our team, coming from St. Louis where he has been exposed to the highest levels of basketball, appearing in multiple NCAA Tournaments," said head coach Dan Majerle. "His maturity, toughness and overall physicality will blend into how we envision our team playing. We look forward to seeing him compete as Antelope."
During the 2013-14 season, the Toronto, Ontario native played in all 34 contests for the Billikens, making six starts. He tallied double-digit rebound totals on five occasions and ranked third on the squad with his 4.5 rebounds per game average. In the season opener against Southeast Missouri State, Glaze turned in a double-double performance, pouring in 16 points, while snatching 10 boards. The forward made 20 starts in 2012-13, averaging 3.1 points per game and grabbing 2.6 rebounds per game.
"Coach Majerle is someone I can relate to and I'm excited to play in his system," said Glaze. "I have been a part of many championship teams and look to lead vocally and through my actions on the court."
Prior to his time at St. Louis, Glaze spent one season at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. under the direction of Ryan Hurd, a school that has a long-standing tradition of producing basketball talents, including current NBA veteran Michael Beasley.
