UNCASVILLE, Conn. – To close out the 2015 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Basketball Challenge, the Grand Canyon women's basketball team faced Fairleigh Dickinson. The Antelopes have three players scored double-figures, led by
Cheyenne Hedrington with 28 points but the Lopes fell to the Knights 74-68. GCU is now 2-5 this season.

"We had plenty of opportunities today to win the game," head coach Trent May said. "It came down to the little things and that is unfortunately what we are missing right now."

The Lopes got off to a good start against Fairleigh Dickinson scoring 30 points in the first half off 50 percent shooting from the field in the first half. The Lopes played good defense in the first two quarters forcing the Knights to shoot 35.3 percent from the floor. Grand Canyon was able to win the turnover battle throughout the game, forcing 21 turnovers while committing 14 themselves.

The Knights were able to make their run in the third quarter, outscoring GCU 24-16 and in the second half, FDU shot 72.7 percent from the field. The Lopes were down 52-46 at the end of the third quarter but the Lopes continued to battle in the fourth quarter, attempting to make a comeback and GCU applied the pressure offensively scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough to pull out the victory.

Hedrington led GCU with eight rebounds including five rebounds on the offensive glass. Off 11-18 shooting from the field, Hedrington led GCU in scoring for the second straight game in the tournament. Hedrington closed out the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Challenge averaging 16.3 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

Grand Canyon will be back in action this Friday, Dec. 4, as they participate in the Air Force Classic against Abilene Christian and Air Force.Â
