In a tightly contested game that went down to the last second, the Grand Canyon University men's basketball team (15-15, 10-6 WAC) fell 69-67 to visiting University of the Pacific (16-15, 6-12 WCC) tonight in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at Antelope Gymnasium in Phoenix, Ariz.
GCU reached the postseason during their inaugural run through Division I after finishing third in the Western Athletic Conference.

Killian Larson recorded his 21
st double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Daniel Alexander also finished with 20 points, while
Jerome Garrison had 13.
For the game, the Antelopes shot 47.7 percent from the field (21-for-44), while the Tigers used a strong second half to turn a 39.3 mark in the first half into a 49.1 percentage (27-for-55) overall. GCU drained 11 three-pointers, the eighth time this season they have made 10 or more from beyond the arc.
The Tigers scored the first four points of the game before the 'Lopes answered with an 8-0 run and built that to 14-6 with 14:20 on the clock. Pacific knotted the score at 14 after holding GCU scoreless for over five minutes. Behind a 17-2 run overall that spanned nearly seven minutes, the Tigers built a 23-16 advantage with seven and a half minutes on the clock.
In a half marked by scoring runs, GCU built a 35-25 lead on a 17-0 spurt and carried that advantage into the break. Over the first 20 minutes, the 'Lopes shot 45.8 percent (11-for-24), including draining seven three-pointers. Alexander accounted for five of those as he had 17 points at the break.
GCU led by as many as 15 in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Tigers pull to within three points (49-46) following a 17-5 run beginning at the 15:49 mark. Andrew Bock knotted the score at 49 with a three-pointer with just under 10 minutes to play.
The two teams then traded the lead over the next seven minutes with the Tigers going up by four 66-62 with two and a half minutes on the clock. Sticking to the theme of the game, the 'Lopes tied the score at 67 one minute later on an Akachi Okugo three-pointer from the corner.
The Tigers would score the final basket of the game on a layup with 1:01 to play and Garrison looked to tie the score in the game's final seconds, but his shot went off the rim as time expired. Pacific ultimately outscored GCU 44-32 over the final 20 minutes.
