The Pacific West Conference today announced that Grand Canyon University won its third consecutive PacWest Conference Make-A-Wish Award. The award honors PacWest schools and their Student Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) for excelling in their efforts to enrich the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
GCU's athletic department and SAAC committee generated $10,039.53 in funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation – eclipsing the $10,000 mark for the second straight year. In three years, GCU has raised more than $27,000 for the program.
Grand Canyon received a plaque commemorating its selection during the PacWest meetings at the end of May.
As a conference, the PacWest student-athletes raised a record-setting $36,707.28 for the Make-A-Wish program – more than $10,000 above the amount accrued by the student-athletes last year. That total is infused into the national program that features NCAA Division II student-athletes from across the nation helping to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
