Grand Canyon University softball coach Ann Pierson has announced the signing of Chandler Basha High School catcher/infielder Kylie Shull for the 2013-14 academic year, the program's first at the NCAA Division I level.
Shull is hitting .459 for the Bears with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 51 RBIs this season. She made the All-Arizona High School softball team as a junior, hitting .421 with 14 doubles, nine home runs and 47 RBIs.
“She’s a tremendous catcher and corner player,” said GCU coach Ann Pierson. “She’ll add depth to our catching position, as well as, third base. She’ll provide power, in terms of home runs and extra-base hits in the gaps.”
She joins the recruiting class that includes pitcher/outfielder Taylor Nowlin of Peoria Sunrise Mountain, catcher Rhyesa Riley from Glendale Mountain Ridge, utility infielder Alexis Nixon from Paradise Valley High School and infielder Camree Wartman from Riverton, Utah.
Shull also joins two other former Basha standouts in sophomore first baseman
Lauren Regester and freshman pitcher/designated player
