Grand Canyon University head women’s basketball coach Trent May today announced that Victoria Morris has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Antelopes squad next season. Morris joins three other new additions to the team for its first year as members of the Division I Western Athletic Conference.
"Tori is a welcomed addition to the program,” said May. “We are excited to have her and we know she will be a great addition to our post position. Tori is a hard working competitor who fell in love with what Grand Canyon is doing and loves the opportunity to be a part of our family."
Morris, a 6-2 center from Arlington, Virginia, was a four-year varsity starter, finishing her high school career at Bishop O’Connell. There she was a two-time First Team All-Arlington County selection and Most Outstanding Player Award recipient. Last season, she was named to the Washington Catholic Athletic Association All-Conference Third Team after leading the team in scoring (10.8 points per game), rebounding (9.5 rebounds per game), blocks (1.8 blocks per game), field goal percentage, and free throw percentage. Morris helped guide her team to the state championship quarterfinals and conference championship quarterfinals, the first for the school in five years.
Morris played in the 2013 Buffalo Wild Wings All-Star Game and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
Prior to playing at Bishop O’Connell, Morris spent her freshman season at Herndon and her sophomore campaign at Middleburg Academy. She was a First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-State selection at Middleburg Academy, where her squad was regular season conference co –champions. At Herndon, Morris was a member of the All-Northern Region Academic Team.
As a member of the AAU club team Vogues during her junior season, Morris’ team won the USJN 16U Championship in Hershey, Penn., and the Silver Division USJN 16U Championship in Washington D.C.
Morris also lettered in volleyball, helping her team to a berth in the state championship semi-finals.
