“Josh is the type of player I’m looking for,” said Majerle. “He reminds me of myself when I was younger. He is a hard worker and more importantly he is a winner. I am excited to have a player of Josh’s caliber be my first signing at GCU.”
Braun, a 6-4 guard from Anthem, Ariz., finished his high school career at Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix, Ariz. Although a knee injury shortened his senior campaign, Braun averaged 9.7 points while draining 42 percent of his field goal attempts.
Prior to his time at Westwind Prep Academy, he played three years of high school basketball at Boulder Creek High School. During the 2011-12 season, he averaged 18.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as he recorded double-digit scoring in all 27 games. Braun also posted 12 double-digit rebounding games throughout the same season.
He posted 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during his sophomore season en route to being named Player of the Year in the Northwest Region. Braun burst onto the high school scene as a freshman, helping the school win their first state championship in 2009-10. That season he posted 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
