The Grand Canyon University men’s basketball team opened its four-game Northern California road trip today with an 81-70 win over Holy Names in Oakland, Calif.
The win improved the Antelopes overall record to 18-5 and 9-3 in the Pacific West Conference. The Hawks fell to 4-18 overall and 1-12 in the league. With the win, GCU improved to 5-4 in games away from Grand Canyon University Arena.

The ‘Lopes shot 53.7 percent from the floor tonight, their third-best performance this season and the highest since a win over Montana State- Billings on Dec. 14 in Phoenix.
Jeff Lowery and
Braylon Pickrel each had 15 to pace the GCU offense. Pickrel added six rebounds.
Killian Larson finished with 10 points and team-high seven rebounds.
Grand Canyon trailed only twice in the game, with the last coming a little over 12 minutes into the opening half, and led by as many as 14 in the stanza.
Holy Names was able to close the gap to seven points on a few occasions early in the second half, before the ‘Lopes used an 18-7 run to lead 68-50 with 7:37 remaining in the game.
GCU, who entered the game having shot only 59 percent from the line in the previous three games, made 17-of-18 today for 94 percent.
Jerome Garrison was 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
The extended trip will make its next stop in Belmont on Monday, where the Antelopes will face Notre Dame de Namur at 8:30 p.m. (AZ time). The game can be heard live on
