Grand Canyon University’s women’s volleyball team begins spring season play with a tournament at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Saturday.
GCU takes on Arizona State (11 a.m.), Northern Arizona (1 p.m.), Fort Lewis (2 p.m.) and Yavapai Community College (3 p.m.) in the first of three straight weekend’s of competition.
On April 7, the team will play in a sand tournament on Coronado Island in San Diego and on April 14, the team will take on Arizona State at a yet to be determined site.
GCU is coming one of its best seasons in recent years. Coach Kris Naber’s team set a school record by winning 14 straight regular season matches to end the season and went to the NCAA West Region for the first time since 1995. The team finished 22-7 and graduated just two players from the 2011 team, all-PacWest performers
