KQCKLive and the Pacific West Conference will preview the upcoming softball season with the 2012 PacWest Softball Media Day Thursday at noon.
Tom Di Camillo, assistant commissioner for Media Relations for the PacWest, will host the show that will announce the league’s preseason all-conference team and predicted order of finish along with interviews with each head coach.
Grand Canyon softball coach Ann Pierson is scheduled to go on at 12:06 p.m.
GCU opens its softball season Saturday with the GCU Kickoff Classic. The Antelopes take on Cal State East Bay at 10 a.m. and Western New Mexico at 12:30 p.m. The teams meet again Sunday with GCU taking on Western New Mexico at 10 a.m. and CSU East Bay at 3 p.m.
The Antelopes were 22-25 last season and 14-14 in the PacWest. They return PacWest Freshman of the Year
Claire Zampini, who led GCU and was third in the conference with a .414 batting average. The team also returns outfielder
Kara Holtorf, catcher
Christine Jordan (CJ) Norvell and third baseman
Stephanie Smith from last year’s starting lineup.
