GCU bowlers go 1-5 in 1st day at Holiday Classic
BESSEMER, Ala. -- If they mark when it matters, things are a lot different. Amy Hammann
Grand Canyon women's bowling team struggled to a 1-5 first day at the Annual Holiday Classic hosted by Alabama A&M Saturday. The common theme was an inability to mark in the latter frames.
"The ninth and 10th frame, especially against Kutztown and Sacred Heart," GCU coach Ron Reddic said. "Not being able to spare in the first four games really hurt us. We were a little off in that category. I don't know if it was nerves by a young team ..."
GCU lost close matches to Kutztown, 807-795, and Sacred Heart, 796-771. They were games that left the Antelopes disappointed they didn't finish .500 in the first of a two-day event.
