GCU opens with Midnight Madness Tuesday

Grand Canyon University basketball is bringing back the Madness.
GCU will usher in the men's and women's basketball seasons with Midnight Madness Tuesday from 10 p.m. to midnight Tuesday in Antelope Gym.
Free pizza and soda will be provided from 10-10:30 p.m. GCU's new cheerleading team will unveil Thunder, the school mascot, and perform cheers. That will be followed by a faculty/staff vs. students game. There will also be contests. Prizes and Canyon Crazies t-shirts will be given out.
The night will also include a dunk contest and three-point contest, featuring players from the men's and women's teams. GCU's men's and women's teams will be announced around midnight to close the festivities.
"It's something that we want to kick off a new tradition," GCU men's assistant coach Joel Taylor said.
