Brendan Sabean enters his first season as Director of Basketball Operations with Grand Canyon and fourth year in the program. Sabean served as Special Assistant to the Head Coach last season following two seasons as Graduate Assistant with the Lopes.
In his role, Sabean serves all aspects of the program including compliance, recruiting, team travel, academic monitoring, practice planning and game preparation.
Sabean received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Gonzaga University and served as the basketball program student manager for four seasons. As a manager, he helped in the day-to-day operations of the program, set up and break down of practice and games, and aided the coaching staff in the skill development of numerous NBA and oversees pros. Sabean was also instrumental in the function of the Gonzaga summer camps. In his junior and senior seasons, he served as the head manager and was part of the 2012-2013 team that was ranked No. 1 in the country by the AP and received a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Sabean went on to spend one season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Western Texas College before coming to Grand Canyon.
Originally from Belmont, Calif., Sabean attended Junipero Serra High School where he played basketball. He completed his Masters of Science in Leadership at Grand Canyon in February 2016.
