Grand Canyon announced its fall schedule that includes two games against opposing schools and the traditional intrasquad "Fall World Series."
GCU is coming off its third consecutive WAC regular-season championship, winning its final 13 conference games to claim last season's title. The Lopes will be introducing a 23-man class of newcomers that
was ranked 50th nationally, charged with placing a talented departing group that includes three MLB Draft picks from the first five rounds.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Lopes will open fall play by hosting BYU at GCU Ballpark. Admission is free and open to the public for an 11 a.m. first pitch.
The Cougars went 24-28 this year, posting a 13-14 record in West Coast Conference play. BYU is now in its first season as a member of the Big 12. The two programs have not met since 1998 when both were WAC members.
The following Saturday, GCU will head to Phoenix Municipal Stadium for a Nov. 11 game against Arizona State at noon. The Lopes will reunite with former pitchers
Ryan Schiefer,
Hunter Omlid and
Connor Markl, who are now Sun Devils.
Per tradition, the Lopes will wrap their fall schedule with a three-game Fall World Series. The intrasquad series will take place Nov. 17-19 with time and location to be announced.
